Introduction top

There is not much information on the internet for the professional about psychoses in general. The information is usually about disorders associated with psychotic symptoms, in particular schizophrenia and bipolar disorders. However psychotic symptoms such as a awareness and thought disorders can also be associated with depressions, manias, and even some personality disorders, substance abuse (LSD, PCP, cannabis, psychedelics, etc.), intoxications (such as medications containing Lariam or L-dopa), brain damage (dementias), and other somatic causes.
Since in most cases psychoses are associated with schizophrenia-related "functional psychoses" (short-lasting psychoses, schizophreniform disorder, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder and disorientation), we have limited the information on this site to links about these subject. Because a differential diagnosis with bipolar disorder is not always easy, we also provide a number of links to this topic.
