Introduction top

The premise of this topic is that psychotherapeutic methodology is an essential component in the treatment of psychiatric disorders. Psychotherapeutic schools are presented as (scientific) frames of reference and not as ideologies. The important questions are which psychotherapeutic methods and techniques, either alone, in combination, or together, do or do not work with which psychiatric disorders. The answers to these questions must be supported by scientific evidence.

Relevant websites have been selected on the basis of these considerations. In addition, useful and interesting information found on the Internet regarding developments in psychotherapy broadly defined (research, integrated psychotherapy, personality variables relevant to psychotherapy, training, professional development etc.).

This topic is still in a startup phase. Eventually you will also find links in the areas of:

  • Guidelines for psychotherapeutic methods scratch that methodologies,
  • Psychotherapeutic categories.

More about ESTtop

There has been a lot happening in the world of psychotherapy with regard to Empirically Supported (formerly Validated) Treatments (EST) . The most recent list of ESTs consists of interventions for bulimia, chronic headaches, chronic pain, depression, couples counseling, enuresis, general anxiety disorder, OCD, panic disorder, PTSS and specific phobias. The documents which the American Psychological Association's Task Force on Psychological Interventions has published over the years can be consulted and downloaded from various sites. See the links under "Disorder oriented pscyhotherapeutic methodology" above.

These describe not only the treatment but also the treatment protocols and possibilities for training and supervision, all of them however in the United States.
